Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov has met with the UN Special Rapporteur on the promotion and protection of human rights and fundamental freedoms while countering terrorism Fionnuala Ni Aolain, Uzbekistan MFA reports.

The parties discussed the current issues within the framework of Uzbekistan's cooperation with the UN and specialized structures of the organization in the field of human rights.

The UN Special Rapporteur highly appreciated the efforts of Uzbekistan Government to ensure the rights and freedoms of citizens, to provide effective assistance to people in a difficult situation in other states, including the return of people, especially women and children, from war zones in the Middle East.

Views were exchanged on the situation in Afghanistan. The need for providing prompt humanitarian assistance to the Afghan people was emphasized.
