Chairman of the Jokargy Kenes of the Republic of Karakapakstan Murat Kamalov received the UN Special Rapporteur on the promotion and protection of human rights and fundamental freedoms while countering terrorism Fionnuala Ni Aolain.
Chairman of the Jokargy Kenes welcomed the guests to the Aral Sea region and noted that in recent years, the President of Uzbekistan, in the process of implementing democratic reforms in the New Uzbekistan, has been carrying out large-scale work to protect human rights and freedoms, ensure their interests, listen to the opinions and problems of the population, as well as to solve them.
In turn, UN Special Rapporteur Fionnuala Ni Aolain praised the work carried out in Uzbekistan to ensure human rights and freedoms, especially to support citizens whose rights have been violated in foreign countries, to return them to their homeland, primarily women and children who find themselves in a difficult situation.
The parties exchanged views on the further development of cooperation in the protection of human rights and freedoms.
