The National Center for Human Rights represented Uzbekistan at 63th Annual Meeting of the Russian International Law Association, held in Moscow on January 27-29, 2020.

First Deputy Speaker of the Legislative Chamber of Parliament of Uzbekistan, Director of the National Center for Human Rights, Academician Akmal Saidov warmly welcomed the participants of the Forum at the opening ceremony. A. Saidov noted that the topic of statements and meetings of the Forum is a confirmation of the role and significance of modern international law as well as in the increasingly globalizing world.

Without law, there is no sustainable development, democracy and human rights. This axiom of modern society has been repeatedly proved by the history of human development. That is why the academic scientific community should to be the vanguard in the process of dynamic development of the modern international law, - said Mr.Saidov.

Our peoples fought shoulder to shoulder with fascism, and together with other peoples made a decisive contribution to freeing the world from the horrors of the brown plague. In total, more than 1.5 million sons and daughters of Uzbekistan fought for peace and freedom in this bloody war, one in three of them did not return home to their relatives and friends. Our people will never forget their feat, as well as the dedication of those who worked in the rear, - said the Director of the NHRC.

It was also noted that the international legal order established after the Second World War and is based on global legal obligations that are the cornerstone of peace and security, which laid the foundation for the modern architecture of international law, including the creation of the United Nations. It is no accident that, in the year of its 75th anniversary, the United Nations is launching a global discussion on the role of comprehensive cooperation in building the future.

As part of the UN75 initiative, Uzbekistan plans to hold Samarkand Forum on Human Rights in May, in order to discuss the vital and positive role of youth in sustainable development, preventing crises and ensuring gender equality, realizing human rights and building a culture of peace, which constitute the core of the United Nations Youth Strategy “Youth 2030: Working With and For Young People”.
