At a meeting in Geneva, which will be held on 6-17 November 2023, the Working Group on the Universal Periodic Review of the UN Human Rights Council will consider the human rights situation in Uzbekistan.
The review will be held for the fourth time. The first, second, and third reviews took place in December 2018, April 2013 and May 2018.
Uzbekistan is one of 14 states that the UPR Working Group will review at its session in Geneva.
The Working Group comprises the 47 member states of the Human Rights Council. Meanwhile, each of the 193 UN member states can take part in the country review. The UPR provides an expert assessment of the human rights situation in all 193 UN member states.
The Uzbekistan delegation will be headed by the First Deputy Speaker of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis, Director of the National Center for Human Rights, Akmal Saidov.
