Active preparations are underway for the elections to parliament and local Councils of People’s Deputies not only in Uzbekistan but also in embassies and representative offices abroad.
As part of the visit of members of the delegation led by the First Deputy Speaker of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan Akmal Saidov to Paris, a roundtable discussion devoted to the elections was organized jointly with the Embassy of Uzbekistan.
At the event, which was attended by representatives of the French Parliament, experts, academics, representatives of public circles, and media workers, information was provided on the essence and content of the large-scale reforms being implemented in Uzbekistan and on the success achieved in ensuring human rights and freedoms in Uzbekistan.
It was also noted that the upcoming parliamentary elections in Uzbekistan will be held for the first time in accordance with the latest amendments to the new Constitution and electoral legislation. The participants were also provided with detailed information about the large-scale preparatory activities carried out within the framework of the election campaign.
According to the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, representatives of the French side touched upon various aspects of Uzbekistan’s latest development and the multifaceted cooperation between Uzbekistan and France. They expressed their opinion on the upcoming important political event.
In particular, the former Deputy Speaker of the French National Assembly, Carole Bureau-Bonnard, noted that she had received an invitation to participate in the elections as an international observer and had previously participated in the Presidential and parliamentary elections of the Republic of Uzbekistan. She also stressed that she was pleasantly surprised by the irreversible changes and democratic reforms carried out in Uzbekistan. According to her, the elections to the Legislative Chamber will be held according to a mixed system, which will increase competition between political parties in Uzbekistan.
