Uzbekistan sets National Commission for Constitutional Reforms

Akmal Saidov was elected as the chairman of a new National Commission for Constitutional Reforms in Uzbekistan that will have the power to amend the Constitution of Uzbekistan and carry out organizational measures, Daryo news agency reports.
The composition and tasks of the commission were determined at a joint meeting of the Senate and the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis. The council which will consist of 46 lawmakers and senators expressed a number of opinions on improving the Constitution. The Commission starts working on the basis of the idea that "Society is the initiator of reforms."
At a meeting of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis on May 16, deputies of the faction of the Liberal Democratic Party of Uzbekistan proposed to amend and supplement the Constitution of our country.
On the occasion of the 29th anniversary of the Constitution, Shavkat Mirziyoyev spoke about the possibility of amending the 30th anniversary of the Constitution - by December 8, 2022.
