Uzbekistan's Special Representative Abdulaziz Kamilov meets with UN Secretary General

AKIPRESS.COM - Special Representative of Uzbekistan's President Abdulaziz Kamilov discussed cooperation, constitutional reforms and other issues with the UN Secretary General, the Uzbek Foreign Ministry reports.

Abdulaziz Kamilov met with UN Secretary-General António Guterres on July 5 during his working visit to the United States.

During the meeting, the sides discussed cooperation between Uzbekistan and the UN, issues of regional security and sustainable development.

The Secretary General supported the initiative of Uzbekistan to hold the International Conference on Afghanistan: Security and Economic Development on July 26 in Tashkent.

António Guterres got acquainted with the content and priority areas of the constitutional reform in Uzbekistan.

On April 27, Kamilov was appointed Deputy Secretary of the Security Council for Foreign Policy and Security under President of Uzbekistan. Vladimir Norov, First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, was appointed Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Now former Foreign Minister Abdulaziz Kamilov, who declared in the Senate of Uzbekistan that he supports the territorial integrity of Ukraine on March 17, was dismissed a month later.

Abdulaziz Kamilov has served as Minister of Foreign Affairs for 10 years.
