On 5 December 2022, Prof. Dr. Anja Mihr, DAAD Associate Professor at the OSCE Academy, presented the MA Programme on Human Rights and Sustainability, a new Masters Programme planned to be launched by the OSCE Academy in fall 2023 at the Global Forum on Human Rights Education held in Samarkand, Uzbekistan. This will be the eighth regional Programme run by the Global Campus of Human Rights in Venice, the Director of which- Prof. Manfred Nowak, also spoke at the Global Forum, presenting the Global Campus activities.
Prof. Mihr elaborated on the idea of establishing this Programme in the region and underlined the interest of the academic community, the youth, and the governments in the topic. The Programme will cover International Human Rights Law, Sustainability and the Sustainable Development Goals in the region, as well as Good Governance and Public Policy. The implementation of the Programme will be done jointly with the Global Campus and the Partner Universities in the Central Asian region.
The Global Forum is organized by the Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan, represented by the National Center for Human Rights of the Republic of Uzbekistan; Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, OHCHR Regional Office for Central Asia, UN Country Team, OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights, OSCE Project Co-ordinator in Uzbekistan, UNESCO, UNICEF, UNODS, IOM, F.Ebert Foundation, K.Adenauer Foundation and other international partners.
