This was discussed at the third plenary session of the international forum on "Youth rights: opportunities and protection mechanisms". Young participants were widely involved in the dialogue within the interactive session.
The third plenary session was moderated by Darya Kosheleva, Youth Specialist of the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights (Geneva) and Sabina Ahmetjanova, Coordinator of the National Youth Program of the Central Asia Regional Division of the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights.
The young people who actively participated in the discussions drew attention to the fact that the Central Asian Youth Forum is being held on the eve of the UN Day. This year, the 75th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights is celebrated simultaneously with another important international date - the 30th anniversary of the Vienna World Conference on Human Rights, because the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights was founded at this conference in 1993.
In the framework of the 75th anniversary of the Declaration and taking into account the fact that young people, who are the pioneers of intense activities related to the protection of human rights, face various difficulties in the realization of their rights, the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights of the United Nations established the Consultative Group on the Rights of Youth. The main task of the Advisory Group is to consistently participate in human rights activities, support initiatives related to youth policy, and encourage initiatives in the field of development of international legal documents on youth rights.
In this sense, the third plenary session of the Central Asian Youth Forum paid special attention to understanding the main obstacles and problems in the field of human rights for different groups of young people. In particular, there was an extensive exchange of views on the protection of human rights at the national and regional levels, and how young people envision changes in human rights in the coming years, and how they are committed to strengthening human rights in the future.
