Uzbekistan Science and Culture Days in Azerbaijan

Azerbaijan hosts Uzbekistan Science and Culture Days, within the framework of which meetings, exhibitions, and other events are held.

The Institute of Manuscripts named after Muhammad Fuzuli of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan, on the initiative of the World Society for the Study, Preservation and Popularization of the Cultural Legacy of Uzbekistan, hosted a roundtable discussion on “Uzbekistan – Azerbaijan: Dialogue of Cultures”.

The event was attended by scientists and specialists and representatives of various agencies and organizations of the two countries.

“Cultural ties between Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan have a deep history”, says Firdavs Abdukhalikov, Chairman of the Board of the World Society for the Study, Preservation and Popularization of the Cultural Legacy of Uzbekistan. “Recently, with the participation of scientists from both countries, a new volume of the series “Cultural Heritage of Uzbekistan” was published, dedicated to the examples of our cultural heritage preserved in Azerbaijan. The album book presents information about cultural objects of Uzbekistan, which are carefully stored at the Institute of Manuscripts named after Muhammad Fuzuli, the Museum of History of Azerbaijan, the Museum of Art, and the Azerbaijan National Carpet Museum”.

“Our institute has many manuscripts relating to the Uzbek land”, says the Director of the Institute of Manuscripts named after Muhammad Fuzuli of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan, academician Teymur Karimli. “Among them are many manuscripts relating to the works of Bukhari, Sina, Navoi, and Babur. The images of such great personalities of the Turkic world are precious to the Azerbaijani people. We are given a sense of pride by the fact that the works of such great thinkers are kept in the collections of our institute”.

First Deputy Speaker of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan Akmal Saidov noted the role of the project “Cultural Heritage of Uzbekistan in World Collections” in deepening friendly ties between the two countries and, on behalf of the World Society, presented letters of gratitude to Azerbaijani scientists and researchers working in this direction.
