Round table on theme

The United Nations Organization (UN) is the largest international organization with about 200 member countries. Our country became a member of this prestigious international organization in the very first year of Independence - March 2, 1992. Cooperation with the organization is steadily developing in many areas, including strengthening peace and security, health, ecology, education, culture and tourism.

The University of World Economy and Diplomacy hosted a round table dedicated to the 29th anniversary of the membership of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the United Nations. It was attended by First deputy speaker of the Legislative chamber of the Oliy Majlis, director of the National center for Human Rights Akmal Saidov, UN Resident coordinator and UNDP Resident representative in the Republic of Uzbekistan Helena Fraser, Deputy of the Legislative chamber of the Oliy Majlis Kadir Juraev, Deputy of the Legislative chamber of the Oliy Majlis, head of the committee international relations and inter-parliamentary relations Dilorom Fayzieva and representatives of UN agencies operating in our country.

The speakers highly appreciated the role of Uzbekistan in the international community, its diplomacy and policy in accordance with the principles of the UN. For example, the words of the President of Uzbekistan Sh.Mirziyoyev, who spoke at the 46th session of the UN Human Rights Council, confirm our opinion: “Uzbekistan as a member of the Human Rights Council shall protect and actively promote the universal principles and norms of the International human rights law.”.

Today, Uzbekistan is a full member of the United Nations, and as a signatory to the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development adopted by all 193 UN member states in September 2015, Uzbekistan has made a global commitment to strive for peace. that ensures equality, prosperity, dignity and justice for all people in a safe and healthy planet. Today, the UN structure in Uzbekistan includes:

  • United Nations Development Program (UNDP),
  • United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA),
  • United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF),
  • World Health Organization (WHO),
  • United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO),

  • UN Regional Center for Preventive Diplomacy in Central Asia (UNRCCA),
  • International Labor Organization (ILO),
  • Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO),
  • International Organization for Migration (IOM)
  • United Nations Volunteers Program (UNV).

The World Bank, as an independent specialized agency of the United Nations, also makes a significant contribution to the work of the Organization in the country.

At the end of the meeting, participants developed individual and practical action plans with each UN agency. Such events are aimed at informing young people about the priorities of our country at the international and national levels, their implementation in higher education.
