“For Human Rights Protection” badge presented in Samarkand

The ceremony of awarding the holders of the “For Human Rights Protection” badge was held within the framework of the Global Forum on Human Rights Education.

This award was established in 2020 at the initiative of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to materially and morally encourage citizens and organizations that have made a significant contribution to the protection of human rights and freedoms, popularization of the exemplary work carried out in this direction.

The badge and a special certificate are solemnly presented annually on December 10 – International Human Rights Day. This year, six of our compatriots, two foreign citizens and two non-governmental non-profit organizations received awards:

– Marat Khadjimuhamedov, First Deputy Director of the Republican Center for the Study of Public Opinion “Ijtimoiy Fikr” – for a worthy contribution to the formation of modern research practice in the protection of human rights and freedoms;

– Jamshidjon Choriyev, head of Surkhandarya Regional Department of the Agency for Youth Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan – for effective work in protecting the rights of young people;

– Hamidulla Premkulov, head of the Legal Department of the Office of the Federation of Trade Unions of Uzbekistan – for being active in protecting labor rights and the socio-economic interests of the population;

– Society of the Disabled of Uzbekistan – for being active in the social protection of persons with disabilities;

– Olia Ilmuradova, Director of the Social and Enlightenment Center “Barqaror Hayot” – for many years of effective work in protecting the rights of women and children;

– Shakhnoza Ikramova, head of the non-state education institution “UMNICHKA” – for being active in protecting the rights of children;

– Creative Union of Journalists of Uzbekistan – for the contribution to the protection of the rights, honor and dignity, legal rights and interests of journalists;

– Govkherjan Yuldasheva, Professor of the Department of International Law and Human Rights of Tashkent State University of Law – for pedagogical and scientific activities in human rights protection;

– Rein Müllerson, Honorary Professor of the School of Governance, Law and Society at Tallinn University – for international cooperation, scientific and pedagogical activities in human rights;

– Ryszard Komenda, Regional Representative of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights for Central Asia – for international cooperation in the protection and ensuring of human rights.

The “For Human Rights Protection” badge was presented by the Director of the National Center of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Human Rights Akmal Saidov.
